BASTINADO: BARE FEET

Bastinado is a specific form of physical punishment within BDSM. It is a method where someone is hit on the soles of the feet. The feet of the receiver are often tied up.

What is Bastinado?

Bastinado, also known as foot whipping , can be seen as a form of foot fetish. It is applied in a setting where physical punishment is accepted by both the Dom and the sub. Such role plays can include a situation of imprisonment or slavery. The submissive’s bare feet are tied and exposed to the Dom. It strikes the soles of the sub a desired number of times. This is usually done by means of a stick or whip.

Where is it from?

The term Bastinado refers to the word ‘baston’ or ‘baton’, which means stick . Bastinado can refer to bastonata , which means ‘to strike with a stick’ in Italian.
Bastinado has a rich history, which has its origins in past torture when punishing criminals. It is known that this practice has been practiced in the Middle East for thousands of years. It is also referred to as  Falaka or Falanga .

Who is it suitable for?

The foot is a very sensitive part of the body, which contains many nerve endings. Stimuli and pain are often experienced intensely. Bastinado is therefore very suitable for BDSM practitioners who want to combine pleasure with leading, or applying, pain. Stimulation of the sole of the foot can even lead to a lot of pain and pleasure. For example, the foot reflexes are at the level of the inside of the heel, in connection with the scrotum, penis, sheath and anus.
The receiver is tied up at Bastinado. So it is ideally suited for a subs who want to feel completely helpless and subordinate, and have the desire to experience pain. It is an ideal setting for Dom to dominate and torment.

What should you pay attention to?

Would you and your partner like to add Bastinado to your sexual repertoire? Then pay attention to a number of things:

  • Choose a safe word. Since the pain can be intense with the sub receiving the beats, it is wise to choose a safeword.
  • Make sure to hit the sub where the soles of the feet touch the ground. These are the ‘fleshy’ areas of the sole of the foot. Avoid the edges and toes.
  • For the Dom: do not go wild, but slow and firm. Explore the sub’s reflex and estimate the limit.
  • Start with simple kitchen utensils. A wooden spatula is very suitable for trying out Bastinado.
  • The position in which the sub is struck on the soles of the feet can vary. The sub can lie stretched out and tied to the bed, feet flat over the edge of the bed. The sub can also be on the knees on a chair on the table.
  • Do not start directly with Bastinado. Wind the sub first until you have reached the point where the Dom can do everything with the sub.

Tools

Bastinado can be performed with different tools. Fast and short movements can be made with a stick . For the somewhat harder strokes, a ruler or paddle can be used . Crops are available in different variations. For example, a whip with foot is available, which is very suitable for Bastinado.

We do not recommend using long floggers as the long strands can curl around the foot. Therefore, prefer to use smaller floggers . Do you prefer to use long strands? Then make sure you use the tips of the strands. The longer the strand, the longer the distance to travel, and the harder the strand will arrive. The strands can also be used to tickle under the soles of the feet, alternating with painful blows.
